News Corp said it was the CyberatCack target which affected Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Dow Jones, UK news operations and other publications and business units. The company said hackers accessed e-mail and documents of several employees, including journalists. A Cybersecurity Consultant News Corp brings believing that China is connected with intrusion, and that the purpose of the attack might gather intelligence for the country’s profits.
The attack was found on January 20 and News Corp revealed it in submission of securities on Friday. It also informs law enforcement. According to the journal, the company told staff that the threat seemed to have been contained and it offered support to affected employees. It seems that no system contains financial data and customers (including detail to customers) affected.
This is not the first time the journal has become the target of cyberatack. The publication said Chinese hackers aimed to compensate for the coverage of the country to access its network in 2013 to lurk reporters.
This week, FBI Director Christopher Wray said China was behind a “massive and sophisticated hacking program that was greater than any other big country combined.” Wray records agencies having more than 2,000 investigations connected with US technology theft or information allegedly regulated by the Chinese government. On average, the FBI opens the two probes every day.
